5. Consulting, Patents, etc.: 1989-90 Mechanical Engineering advisor to Team SolarCat - Villanova's first solar electric car project. He guided students in the thermal, aerodynamic and structural analysis, design and construction of the vehicle's chassis, body, and mechanical drive systems. He also assisted in fabricating the composite body shell and mechanical assembly.

1990-92 Co-Principal Investigator on a Pennsylvania Energy Office funded project to design and build a solar charged, electric commuter car. He supervised design and construction of mechanical systems. He developed a FORTRAN program to simulate electric vehicle operations. He supervised and assisted in overhaul of 12v electrical system and body modifications to improved aerodynamic.

1993-94 Co-Principal Investigator on a Pennsylvania Energy Office funded project to design and build a hybrid - electric vehicle. He supervised design and construction of electric, propane hybrid engine/generator and mechanical drive systems.

1993 - 2002 Ben Franklin Center of Excellence (at Villanova) on Alternative Fuel Vehicle Researcher. He conducted research and design of propane alternative fuel systems and components, hybrid vehicle systems and components, and electric vehicle system and components. He also worked on further development of simulation tool for electric, hybrid and other alternative fueled vehicles.

1999-2000 Designed a hybrid drive system for a Pedi-cab style utility bike to include electric propulsion for a Ben Franklin Partnership project. Implemented the design on the vehicle, constructed the drive system and tested the vehicle’s performance .

2002-2003 Designed modifications to a Mini-cup race car for Ben Franklin Partnership project to incorporate electric propulsion for indoor racing. He supervised the design and construction of the vehicle systems by a Mechanical and an Electrical Engineering Grad student. He developed an Excel Spreadsheet simulations of the vehicle and race operation on two sizes of indoor oval race tracks.
